Seventeen.co.za has expanded its reach and accessibility with the launch of the first phase of its mobi site, seventeen.mobi.
Prezence has created a mobi version of Seventeen.co.za, which offers fans engaging and interactive content. The mobi site encourages the user to contribute their own content, such as the 'Oh Boy!' section where girls can pose questions to a boy panel and vice versa. Users can also upload images to the mobi site via their phones and MMS; rate and comment on content; vote on topical polls and read the latest celebrity gossip.
The mobi site was built with Prezence’s trademark mobile wizardry, and includes a customised content management system, which seamlessly allows seventeen to manage the addition of new articles and images; edit articles and user submitted content; update daily horoscopes; add competitions and new quizzes.
Prezence engineered the mobi site using handset content adaptation. This automatically detects which cellphone is being used to access a mobi site, and then immediately adapts the site to suit the exact specifications; features; and screen size of the user's phone.
Prezence CEO, Tim Bishop said: "It is absolutely essential for leading publishers and brands to 'mobilise' and leverage off the prolific numbers of users accessing the internet through their cell phones. Not only do Prezence-built mobi sites provide brands such as seventeen with a wider and more accessible audience, but also creates another engaging platform from which to further monetize their content."
